As sad as it is, I'm not surprised. Maybe this server wouldn't have gone downhill had it listened to the loud minority time after time. On top of that, there were a few corrupt staff members favoring players and allowing many to break rules. Staff didn't crack down on those that broke rules and created a toxic community, leading to some members telling me to kill myself for pvp. Even after filing a report with evidence of members such as the beloved digital_beast telling me to die, along with dynamicUK telling me to "die in a gutter", the report was simply closed since "I'm tired of having to read emails I get from posts on it" -Becja. Can't possibly punish the rule breakers telling me to kill myself, but it's apparently ok for the community to harass me every time I got on.It was definitely time for this server to die. Have fun looking for my salt mine.

I still can't believe this server is closing, after all those years. It feels like I'm saying goodbye to a big part of my childhood. I still remember when I first joined like it was yesterday, when BurgerDaddy took me in and we created Cake Town, also know as Lag Town, along with minikin12. I've made so many friends and memories on this server that I'll never forget.
I'd like to thank huey87evan, Sadic_, LegendaryGam3r, Bakeris1, DynamicUK, GalacticSlushy, vlinkar, MaddieMarvel, Mertokile92, Maddyx_, MountainHillGirl, JackHenry6, TheBugBread, RKKC, justywusty87, aapaswdaa, Rooster52, FyreAero and so many other people for being such good friends. I'd especially like to thank MiniOwl_, Blobuscus, sponkeymonkey, JugheadEmily, thomasshh, Gem3000, Red_Salmon, The_Marauder, legoit, Duron119, Ghmmy, BadmanSaphire, ChillJacob, GoldBlooded, Loki10023, sireatalote, Crayelah and PeachPebbles for dealing with my craziness every day, I love you all. So sad, I remember when I first joined and started playing minecraft. It was hard finding the right server but Spacebug's was the greatest, hard to find a server that has all this one had. It's the first time I have donated and been through so many resets but everytime it was awesome to refresh at least. I even missed lellipop lol
Those holiday gift boxes from mobs were great too (only wished there was a shovel for holemuncher haha)

Guys, i'm searching constantly for a server at least somewhat similar to this one. It's really hard because to me, this server had the best plugins mashed together.
So far, the only one I found similar is called The Oasis. Please share server suggestions if you have come across anything similar to Spacebug's awesome server.
*Edit* It's not very similar, just somewhat, most servers I find have similar qualities to spacebug but not all the best parts together. I love the /sell command and being able to claim land and auction but if anyone finds something, please share.
I know most of you but I don't think i've talked to you outside of the server, if anyone wants to connect through discord, mine is HoleMuncher#2436.

Honeslty, I'm just going to play spacebug until the end, and maybe look for a new server when the new update starts hitting servers. no sense getting started on something new now that is going to reset again since the next update is so huge.

Hey Guys. Even though I've been here from World 1, I've been pretty inactive in long intervals. Nevertheless, I have enjoyed this server through all of it's years immensely, and I have many good memories of playing with my brothers and the friends that I made.
I'm very sad that this server has to close, as the community surrounding it were full of lots of nice people. Compared to other servers, hardly anyone was asinine or unlikeable.
I intend to move to a Semi-Vanilla Survival Server like this called 'mc.safesurvival.net' It looks to be very similar to this.

Nvm guys, I found a server that is very closely resembling this one!
It just started back in February 2018 and it has many of the plugins we have here, in addition, it also has PVP in a /duel form. /sell is available along with /ah (auction) and we can have player shops and towns. It has mcmmo, survival, sky block and more!
If anyone wants to join me there, it's called Bear Craft (http://store.bearcraft.eu) IP is bearcraft.mcjoin.eu:25642.
also, using this command "/raf 800126161" will give you a little bonus while starting out!
They're open to new ideas too and I mentioned the Holiday Gift box mobs dropped but they were asking what plugin that was so they could look into it.

The Holiday Gift box was the plugin SurpriseBags. It's long been abandoned by the original developer, but I updated it. If the owners of the server want to fork the code to update it, they can from my github: https://github.com/10becja/SurpriseBags
As a side note, if anyone does find servers they play on and want any of the plugins I wrote for SpaceBug, feel free to put the server admins/owners in touch with me. I'm more than happy to share the work I did, I only ask that I'm credited for it 😀

A while ago I made a SpaceBug banner. Some people dont like it, but I like it

Very sorry to hear the news... This like many others have said was the first server i joined when i started playing Minecraft and the only server that really felt like the real game to me. Have met maybe wonderful people on here playing over the last 5 years and will definitely miss being able to log on here for a fresh start ever again... Feel like this game will be dead to me now with no spacebug. To all the staff you have been amazing over the years keeping this game going! Thank you so much!
